Knifemakers' Workshop with Ian Pratt and Ken Gahagan  September 13-16, 2022

4 day workshop. $675 class fee includes onsite meals and lodging. An additional $20 materials fee to be paid to your instructors for coal, steel and handle material.

Working at coal forges and anvils, each student will make what has sometimes been dubbed a "memory knife" . The meaning of this name is somewhat shrouded in mystery , but has been used to describe knives with geometric poured pewter designs in the handles  - patterns which may represent maps of trails and rivers, occurrences which the pewter design's maker wished to commemorate , or some other symbolic form of artistic expression.

Prior knifemaking, blacksmithing , or knife class attendance is a plus. This class and all other SOAW classes are held at Canter's Cave in Jackson, Ohio. To contact us with questions about  Ken and Ian's Knifemakers' Workshop or for registration information , click  "request info"  -
