A graduate of Hershel and John House’s gunmaker’s class at Canter’s Cave, former excavation laborer Ian Pratt built his first longrifle in 1996. Within ten years he was building rifles full time.
Specializing in iron mounted guns, Ian’s unique flintlock rifles have become “most wanted” by shooters and collectors from all over the country.
Ian has taught various classes in gun building, knife making and forge work at the Log Cabin Shop, Conner Prairie, and the Washington Historical Gunmakers’ Guild. His work has been featured in many publications including Muzzleloader Magazine, American Tradition, Muzzle Blasts, and American Frontiersman. Here is a link to an article that features Ian and his work in Black Powder Magazine.
